Renewable heat: Graphic on the composition in Germany

The graphic shows the provision of renewable heat from energy sources such as biomass, solar thermal or geothermal energy for Germany in 2011. Within the energy transition, renewable heat is often referred to as the “sleeping giant”. This is due to the fact that heat consumption makes up the largest part of final energy consumption, but so far little has been seen of the energy transition in the heating sector.
